T-Slot Tile 8 Inch Wide by 6 inch high by 36 inch long Heat Zone Atmosphere Muffled Pusher Water Quench Annealing Furnace & Ammonia Dissociator.

The electrically heated Pusher Water Quench Furnace of S.M. Engineering special design operates with a patented "Free-Float"™ muffle and quench chamber, thus distortion from expansion and contraction of the muffle is almost eliminated by the S. M. feature of mounting the quench shoot on rollers, thus, allowing the whole assembly to "Free-Float"™.

Built of 1/4 inch thick Nickel Alloy 330 the work will ride on the hearth. The muffle is of all Tig welded design and extends through the furnace entrance throat. It is hermetically welded to the purging chamber and also extends through the furnace exit throat to be hermetically sealed to the cooling chamber by Tig welding. There is one atmosphere barrier trap between the heating zone and the cooling zone.

The length of the water quench furnace is 14 feet 6 inches (Approximately) with a heat zone of 36 inches. It is insulated with l0-1/2 inches all around using high purity insulating firebrick, multiple courses of 2600 degree and backed by 1900 degree fire block to minimize heat losses. The muffle itself is supported by 3000 degree mullite high purity form tile (T-Slot). The purging chamber is 12 inches long and is fitted with a blanchard ground casting and door to maintain an atmosphere tight seal around sides and top of door. There is a gas flame curtain with a Baso safety valve.

The heating elements of the water quench furnace are constructed of ribbon design of Hoskins 80-20 material rated for use in furnaces up to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. They are completely supported in mullite refractory form tile for extended life. The elements are of special S. M. design to operate on a very low watt density-10 watts/ square inch of ribbon. The elements may be replaced when necessary without disturbing the furnace insulation or muffle.

There is one (l) Honeywell UDC 3000 series microprocessor control calibrated for type (K) Thermocouples. These offer state-of-the-art microcomputer design, 4 digit seven sequent digital display of process temperature set point temperature or control adjustment, L.E.D. Deviation indicator, field selectable (continued) display in degrees Fahrenheit. Adjustable proportion band and cycle rate for precise temperature controls. There is one (l) Honeywell UDC 3000 digital series over temperature control to guard against exceeding design temperature. There are two (2) flow meters calibrated for dissociated ammonia

One single zone 300 CF/H Ammonia Dissociator with -80 degrees below zero dew point producing a gaseous atmosphere having a nitrogen content of 25% and a hydrogen content of 75% with a maximum residual ammonia content not in excess of 190 parts per million when operating at an output of 2 - 3 P.S.I.G. when using metallurgical grade anhydrous ammonia (99.9% pure). It can handle a capacity of 300 S.C.F.H.

All S.M. Engineering of the water quench furnaces are designed to conform to known existing safety standards required by OSHA and Factory Mutual or Industrial Risk Insurers Insurance Companies for this type of equipment. However, if safety features or devices in addition to those specified herein are required to obtain approval of other federal, state or local agencies, such additional items will be supplied at an appropriate additional charge.

As with all our of the water quench furnaces, S. M. Engineering Co., Inc. will provide start up and instruct proper operations of the furnace. As per your request we will do this in writing, in person, or if you wish to send your representative to S.M.'s factory, we will also instruct proper start up and shut down installation to the personnel in charge.

OUR GUARANTEE
SM Engineering water quench furnaces are guaranteed for 1 year against any defective materials manufactured by S. M. Engineering and to be made as specified. Our quality is second to none!
