With 14 inches per minute of capacity, this furnace is the “work horse” of many manufacturing firms. With a maximum operating temperature of 1800 degrees Fahrenheit and an overall length of 18 feet, a width of 42 inches and a 6 inch wide flat mesh balance weave, made of 314 stainless steel alloy, this unit can really produce!

Featuring a Bodine Minarik electronically controlled speed of 0 inches to 14 inches per minute, smoothly running so as not to disturb the work while passing through the furnace. The heating chamber is 36 inches long, heated by Nichrome heating elements with a low watt density for long life, backed by 2 1/2 inches of Johns-Manville insulating brick and 5 inches of Johns-Manville Superex for efficient insulating conditions. The muffle, made of 1/4 inch thick nickel alloy 330 heliarc welded with blanchard ground flange at cooler end, prevents the moisture in the linings of the furnace from contaminating the work.

Two Honeywell UDC 3000 Micro-processor Controls calibrated for Type (K) Thermocouples offer state-of-the-art Micro Computer Design, 4 digit seven sequent digital display, selectable display of process temperature, set-point temperature or control adjustments, L.E.D. Deviation indicator, field selectable display in degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius. Adjustable proportion band and cycle rate for precise temperature control.

The Ammonia Dissociator handles 150 cubic feet per hour, at 80 degrees Fahrenheit dew point. The purging chamber will be 30 inches long, fitted with blanchard ground Meehanite casting and door to maintain an atmosphere tight seal around sides and top of door. The purging chamber will be inclined 7.5 degrees to enhance atmosphere conditions throughout the furnace.

There is one cooler, 75 inches long with a blanchard ground flange for tight sealed joints. The cooler is made of 10-gauge stainless steel plate inside heliarc welded to eliminate any chance leaking. The cooler declines making an ideal condition throughout the furnace to guard against draft problems. The cooling section also has a fiberglass curtain box with 4 hanging curtains. There is one atmosphere inlet connected with a flowmeter.

All S.M. Engineering equipment is designed to conform to known existing safety standards required by OSHA and Factory Mutual or Industrial Risk Insurers Insurance Companies for this type of equipment. However, if safety features or devices in addition to those specified herein are required to obtain approval of other federal, state or local agencies, such additional items will be supplied at an appropriate additional charge.

As with all our units, S. M. Engineering Co., Inc. will provide start up and instruct proper operations of the furnace. As per your request we will do this in writing, in person, or if you wish to send your representative to S.M.’s factory, we will also instruct proper start up and shut down installation to the personnel in charge.
